Strictly Come Dancing 2016: Is Aliona Vilani coming back after all?

Aliona Vilani has been tipped to join Strictly Come Dancing despite quitting earlier this year.

The long-time pro is one of five dancers to have officially stepped down from this year's line up alongside fellow regulars Kristina Rihanoff and Ola Jordan as well as relative newbie Tristan MacManus and Gleb Savchenko, who announced his departure after only one series last week.

However it's now been claimed that Aliona could return to the show in a choreographer role and has also been made a back up for any injured pros.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “She is bored and really keen to get back on the show in some capacity.

“She is currently talking to show bosses about having a choreography role, and she is their number one dancer to turn to if someone has an injury."

They added: “She’s over the moon and realised she was a bit hasty in her decision to quit.”

Speaking earlier this year, Aliona revealed she 'had to leave' due to the pressures of the programme.

"Strictly is a really full-on show, so basically you have to take five months out of your life," she said. "You don't see your friends, you don't see your family, you don't have any days off.

"Let's say I want to start a family and have a baby - I don't want to take five months out of my life and not be with my child, especially in the beginning. So I think I really had to step away."

The BBC has since announced three new pros - World Champion Katya Jones, Ukrainian Champion Oksana Platero and top Spanish dance professional Gorka Marquez - who will be joining the show this year.

However a further two pros are expected to be added to the line up.

Strictly will air on BBC One in the autumn.
